African Studies

This program provides students with the opportunity to pursue their interest in Africa as a double major or minor. It is designed to help you gain personal and political insight on topics such as African history, people and the continent’s role in global affairs.

Philosophy

This program explores many of humanity’s fundamental questions. The program’s interdisciplinary approach will help you understand various contemporary challenges in applied ethics, social and political philosophy, feminist philosophy, cognitive science, philosophy of mind and argumentation theory.

Humanities

This program emphasizes the different ways in which human cultures and their multiple forms of expression have developed historically and continue to develop today.

History

This program will explore thousands of years of history in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas and explore themes such as the immigrant experience in Canada, native history and global migration.

Children, Childhood & Youth

This program will examine how to engage children and discern children, and young people's voices in historical and cultural contexts. You will come to understand the human condition from the child’s perspective.

Public Administration

This program aims to provide students with “education for good governance.” With a strong emphasis on social justice, public ethics and commitment to democratic values, students in the Public Administration program take courses from a mix of disciplines. Develop critical thinking, analytical capabilities and management skills.

Certificate in Marketing

Learn the fundamentals of marketing management, consumer behaviour and marketing research. You will discover how marketing helps organizations sell their goods and services.

Information Technology

This program studies how technology can best be integrated and customised. Discover the world of Information Technology (IT) and become an IT professional able to design, implement, customize and manage technologies.

Certificate in Human Resource Management

This certificate is designed for current York students and as a stand-alone program for former university students looking for HRM education. The program offers courses in organizational behaviour, human resource management, industrial relations, employment law, training and development, HR planning, compensation, labour economics and recruitment.

Financial & Business Economics

This program is highly structured to give students a broad understanding of the economic framework upon which financial theory is based.
