DARE Project: Afrofuturism-as-Decryption of Axumite Cosmotechnics
Program(s) of Study: Cognitive Science
Project Supervisor: Slyvia Bawa

Through this project I realize going forward could be achieved by looking back. Slyvia Bawa

Project Description:

The project explores how the intellectual and physical heritage of the ancient Axumite civilization can be "decrypted" to inform modern social and technological systems. By applying an Afrofuturist methodology—specifically moving from historical Form to operative Code and finally to a functional Blueprint—the research translates artifacts like stelae, coinage, and Ge’ez manuscripts into contemporary applications for civic timekeeping, verification tools, and archival design. Ultimately, it seeks to recover suppressed African knowledge systems to provide authentic, rooted models for future governance and education.
