What about insurance? Will students be insured while on placement?

The Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU) provides Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) coverage (or, in some instances, other insurance coverage) for Ontario Post-secondary students who are completing an unpaid placement as a part of their course/program. 

How are evaluations completed? 

The students’ grade will be determined by evaluations completed by both the Course Director and the placement supervisor. The Course Director will check in with the placement supervisor either midway through the placement, at the end, or both, to assess the students’ performance. Evaluations will be sent by email. 

How many hours are required for placement roles?  

The number of required hours for placement roles vary depending on the course. However, placements are part-time and normally do not exceed 8 hours a week. If I take less than 24 credits, will my fees be reduced?

The fees for IYO are a flat tuition fee – this means that regardless of the number of credits you do (up to a maximum of 24 credits), you are required to pay $49,500 for the program over two terms.

What are the tuition fees for this program? What is included in the fees?

The tuition fee for IYO is CAD$49,500 for the program to be paid over two terms. Fees include up to 24 credit courses, 10 hours per week of non-credit English language courses and extensive academic and language training support throughout the program. For years 2 to 4, it will be regular tuition fees.
