DARE Project: Sailing with the French: Labour, Trade, and Mobility in the 18th-century Indian Ocean

In Western scholarship, the maritime history of the Indian Ocean is much less studied than that of the Atlantic; I hope that my efforts in this project will help other historians to do further research in this under-studied field, especially as our society continues to come to terms our historical roots in colonialism.
