The Law and Society Program created this prize in honour of Jane Banfield for her dedication to encouraging scholarship and teaching and overall contribution to the program. Jane founded the Law and Society Program at York - the first of its kind in Canada. The prize is awarded to a student with the highest final grade in SOSC 2350 6.0 - Law and Society. In the case of a tie, one or more awards may be made in a given year.
