Advancing YU | Application Form

Please note if you have participated in Advancing YU previously, you are not eligible to participate this year. To further your academic, personal, and professional development, please explore the LA&PS website for exciting initiatives to pursue.

Thank you for your interest applying to the Advancing YU Program. To be considered for this program, applicants must identify as a woman and/or Black student, have completed at least 54 credits and enrolled full time or part time in a LA&PS program. Both domestic and international students will be considered.

Through this program, students are paired up with successful York alumni for a unique professional mentorship experience designed to speak to your lived experience. Mentors come from a wide variety of fields and are well positioned to provide professional support as you prepare for the next steps in your career.

About the Program

The duration of the program is September 2025 to April 2026. Admitted students are expected to commit 10 hours per month connecting with their mentors and engaging in professional development activities provided by the program.

The program also provides a stipend of up to $1,000. The amount of the stipend you will receive is based on your level of participation in the program throughout the year.

Application Process

Applications are due Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Due to the number of applications to Advancing YU, it may take a few weeks after the application deadline for our team to let you know if you are a successful applicant. We will communicate information through email, so please check your inbox and spam/junk folders frequently to ensure you do not miss any updates.

Next Steps

Students who are accepted for Advancing YU are required to attend an in-person launch, where participants will meet their mentors. Although additional details will be shared closer to the date, to ensure a smooth transition, please place a tentative hold in your calendar for September 25, 2025.
