To be eligible for the LA&PS Internship program, students must meet the following criteria at the time of application:
- Enrolled in full-time studies in a LA&PS Honours Undergraduate Program
- Full-time refers to York University’s definitions:
- at least 60% course load (at least 9 credits in each term) for undergraduate students
- at least 40% course load (at least 6 credits in each term) for undergraduate students with a disability.
- Full-time refers to York University’s definitions:
- Have completed a minimum of 54 credits
- Have a minimum of 9 required credits remaining to complete their Honours Degree by the start of the internship
- Able to return to York University for full-time studies (minimum 9 credits per term) after completion of the final work term
- Have met additional academic requirements and the grade point average (GPA) specific to their program of study (see below).
- Are able to work in Ontario (are a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or Indigenous to Canada). International students see below.
- Have attended a mandatory LA&PS Internship Information Session. Register on Experience York website.
International Students
In order to legally work as an intern or co-op student in Canada, international students must obtain a co-op work permit from the federal government.
After attending our mandatory Internship Information Session, international students may apply to the LA&PS Internship Program. Your application will be assessed using the eligibility requirements for your academic program as outlined on this page. Upon meeting these requirements, international students will be granted ‘conditional approval’ for enrolment in the internship program and will be issued a letter from our office that confirms your enrolment in the internship program. You may then use this letter to apply for the required co-op work permit. You should not submit an application for a co-op work permit prior to attending an Information session.

Accounting (BCOM)
Have a GPA of 5.5 or better in Major as well as a cumulative GPA of 5.0 or better.
Successful completion or in progress of ADMS 2510 3.00, ADMS 2511 3.00, ADMS 3510 3.00, ADMS 3585 3.00 and ADMS 3595 3.00.
Business and Society
Have a GPA of 5.0 or better in Major as well as a cumulative GPA of 5.0 or better.
Successful completion or in progress of 9.0 credits at the 3000-level or higher in your Major.
Business Research (BCOM)
Have a GPA of 5.5 or better in Major as well as a cumulative GPA of 5.0 or better.
Successful completion or in progress of 9.0 credits at the 3000-level or higher in your Major.
Business Technology Management (BCOM)
Have a GPA of 5.5 or better in Major as well as a cumulative GPA of 5.0 or better.
Successful completion or in progress of 9.0 credits at the 3000-level or higher in your Major.
Communication Studies
Have a GPA of 5.0 or better in Major as well as a cumulative GPA of 5.0 or better.
Successful completion or in progress of 9.00 credits at the 3000-level or higher in your Major.
Disaster and Emergency Management
Have a Major GPA of 5.5 or higher as well as a cumulative GPA of 5.0 or higher.
Have a minimum 9 credits remaining before you begin an internship.
Successful completion of OR in progress of 9.0 credits at the 3000-level or higher in your Major.
Economics
(Including Financial and Business Economics)
Have a GPA of 5.5 or better in Major as well as a cumulative GPA of 5.0 or better.
Successful completion or in progress of AP/ ECON 2300 3.00 and AP/ ECON 2400 3.00.
Successful completion or AP/ECON 3210 3.00 or AP/ECON 3480 3.00 or AP/ECON 3500 3.00, and at least 6.00 additional ECON credits at the 3000-level or higher.
Finance (BCOM)
Have a GPA of 5.5 or better in Major as well as a cumulative GPA of 5.0 or better.
Successful completion or in progress of 9.00 at the 3000-level or higher in your Major.
Successful completion or in progress of 9.00 credits at the 3000-level or higher in your Major.
School of Human Resource Management
Enrolled in honours bachelor of human resource management (BHRM).
Have a GPA of 5.5 or better in Major as well as a cumulative GPA of 5.5 or better.
Successful completion or in progress of 9.00 at the 3000-level or higher in your Major.
Human Resource Management (BCOM)
Have a GPA of 5.5 or better in Major as well as a cumulative GPA of 5.0 or better.
Successful completion or in progress of 9.00 credits at the 3000-level or higher in your Major.
Information Technology (BCOM and BA)
Have a GPA of 5.5 or better in Major as well as a cumulative GPA of 5.0 or better.
Successful completion or in progress of 9.00 ITEC credits at the 3000-level or higher, one of which MUST be AP/ITEC 3010 3.00 Systems Analysis and Design I (formerly ITEC 2010 3.00).
Management (BCOM)
Have a GPA of 5.5 or better in Major as well as a cumulative GPA of 5.0 or better.
Successful completion or in progress of AP/ADMS 2200 3.00, AP/ADMS 2500 3.00, AP/ADMS 2510 3.00, AP/ADMS 3530 3.00 and AP/ADMS 3900 (previously 3930) 3.00, and at least 3.00 additional ADMS credits at the 3000-level or higher.
Marketing (BCOM)
Have a GPA of 5.5 or better in Major as well as a cumulative GPA of 5.0 or better.
Successful completion or in progress of AP/ADMS 3220 3.00, and at least 6.00 Marketing credits at the 3000-level or higher.
Supply Chain Management (BCOM)
Have a GPA of 5.5 or better in Major as well as a cumulative GPA of 5.0 or better.
Successful completion or in progress of 9.00 credits at the 3000-level or higher in your Major.
Public Administration
Have a GPA of 6.0 or better in Public Administration or a cumulative GPA of 6.0 or better.
Successful completion or in progress of PPAS 2195 3.00 AP/PPAS 3190 6.00 and AP/PPAS 3300 6.00.
LIBERAL ARTS (all other LA&PS Honours degree programs not listed above)
Have a GPA of 5.0 or better in Major as well as a cumulative GPA of 5.0 or better.
Successful completion or in progress of 9.00 credits at the 3000-level or higher in your Major.
