Black History Month

February is Black History Month, and there are several events happening across campus where you can experience the rich heritage, traditions and culture of the Black community and celebrate Black Excellence.

VCP Presents: BIPOC Artist HUB – Showcase 

Don’t miss our BIPOC Artist Hub Showcase for the chance to experience meaningful, passionate, interesting art and performance pieces surrounding this year’s theme, LOST/FOUND. Join us at the showcase where the hub hopes to inspire and transport you with introspection and storytelling.

Academic & Communication Excellence Development (ACED) Workshop 

The new Academic & Communication Excellence Development (ACED) Certificate program offers workshops and hands-on projects to help you build academic, communication and teamwork skills. 

Upcoming workshop – Research Skills: Navigating, Reading and Evaluating Information 

Join us for an introductory workshop that gives you the fundamental skills needed to begin academic research with confidence. Learn how to conduct basic information searches, read and interpret scholarly materials and evaluate sources for credibility. Through practical demonstrations and hands-on activities, you'll gain essential techniques to start building a strong research foundation for your coursework and projects.

LA&PS Summer 2026 Co-op 

Interested in joining the LA&PS Co-op Program for summer 2026 to test-drive your dream job, earn some cash and explore awesome career paths? Good news – applications are open until Friday, Feb. 6, so take the next step and apply! 

The first step is to complete the Co-op Information Session, where you will get an overview of the program, eligibility requirements, student responsibilities and the supports available to help you succeed.

If you have questions, or need help getting started, you can attend a virtual group drop-in advising session. Login to Experience York and navigate to Co-op & Internship Program > Co-op Events to find the next available student drop-in. No registration needed. 

You can also book a 10-minute one-on-one appointment with your co-op coordinator. Spots fill up fast, so be sure to book early!

Eat, Play, Chill

Eat, Play, Chill: Creative Chill 

Eat, Play, Chill is a calm, wellness-focused space hosted by LA&PS Colleges, designed to help first-year students build belonging and community in a relaxed, welcoming environment. The program offers free lunches, low-pressure games, creative activities and access to peer mentor support. Whether you want to play, create or simply take a break between classes, Eat, Play, Chill is a welcoming space that reinforces one simple message: LA&PS cares.
