Advising & Support for BCom, BDEM, minors and certificates

If you have any concerns about accessing the courses and services you need, we are here to help. Connect with your advisor in-person, virtually or via email. Drop-in Advising

In-Person Advising

Check in at the Administrative Studies front desk at 282 Atkinson Building. Drop-in advising is first-come, first served.

Hours of Operation

Monday, Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.

Dec 22 and 23: No in-person advising. Virtual QLESS drop-ins will be available.

Virtual Advising

Virtual drop-in advising sessions are available by using QLESS.

Hours of Operation

Monday, Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 - 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 - 3:30 p.m.

  1. Join our Administrative Studies Academic Advising QLESS Kiosk OR download the QLESS app on your smartphone from Google Play or the iTunes App Store. (Open the app and select "Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies")
  2. Select the Administrative Studies virtual queue.
  3. Click Join Now.
  4. Fill out your name and phone number.
  5. Add any notes for your advisor, including topics you’d like to discuss.
  6. Fill in a short form regarding your student information.
  7. You’ll receive a text message when your advisor is ready to meet with you. If you selected Zoom, you'll receive the link in your email. If you selected phone, the advisor will call you.

The Virtual queue will close for the day once it reaches capacity. Please note QLESS estimated wait times are approximate and actual time to be seen may vary depending on advisor availability and duration of each advising session.

Note: Each drop-in session is about 15-30 minutes. The last advising drop-in session for the day will begin a half hour before the indicated end time.

Our in-house advisors provide guidance to students currently enrolled in our programs (BCom, BDEM, minors and certificates). When contacting the School of Administrative Studies front desk services, in person or via email, always provide your full name and York student number. Please be sure to include complete details related to your question, such as the course code and section (for example, AP/ADMS1000 Section A), if you are inquiring about a specific course.

Academic Advisors meet with students currently enrolled in the School of Administrative Studies programs. If you are not currently enrolled in the BCom, BDEM, or a related professional business minor or certificate program, for information, please contact the School of Administrative Studies
