LA&PS Travel Grant for Dissemination

Deadline: August 1, 2019

Value: Up to $1,000

LA&PS offers this grant to offset costs associated with the public dissemination of research, scholarship, or creativity. Eligibility: Full-time YUFA faculty members and senior scholars in LA&PS. In the case of CLAs and SRCs, travel must also occur within the term of the appointment. Applications must be submitted in advance of the presentation. SSHRC Exchange - Conference Grant Program (ORS)

Deadline: August 1, 2019

Value: Generally, up to a minimum APEX or Charter Class airfare.

To provide assistance for attendance at national and international scholarly conferences for which the applicant is giving a paper, making a poster presentation, or featured at a solo or 2-person opening of an exhibition, a principal screening, premier performance of dance, theatre or musical production. CIHR Funding Opportunities

The Office of Research Services (ORS) recently updated the spreadsheet of funding opportunities available through CIHR. Due to the large volume of RFAs, ORS has created a simplified Excel spreadsheet that will make it easier for researchers to locate the funding call that is most appropriate to their research area.

Cancer Survivorship Team Grants

Duration: 5 years

The Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research – Institute of Cancer Research (CIHR-ICR) are accepting applications for the jointly funded Cancer Survivorship Team Grants program. Its objectives are:

• To improve the health outcomes for cancer survivors of all ages (pediatric, adolescent, young adult and adult) from the time of their cancer diagnosis until the time of their death or entry into palliative care
• To support new intervention research designed to mitigate the challenges experienced along the survivorship journey, as well as the evaluation and validation of existing interventions to assess their potential for implementation as best practices

The program goal will be achieved through the support of a network of multidisciplinary teams, each led by a nominated Principal Investigator and at least 2 co-Principal and/or co-Investigators, one of whom must be within their first five years as an independent researcher, drawn from at least 3 different regions of Canada (Atlantic Provinces, Central Canada, Prairie Provinces, West Coast, Northern Territories). Survivors and caregivers are expected to be engaged as full and active members of research teams.

SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant

Deadlines:

Value:  $7,000 – 25,000

Duration: 1 year

This program provides short-term and timely support for partnered research activities that will inform decision-making at a single partner organization from the public, private or not-for-profit sector. The Partnership Engage Grants are meant to respond to immediate needs and time constraints facing organizations in non-academic sectors. In addressing an organization-specific need, challenge and/or opportunity, these partnerships let non-academic organizations and postsecondary researchers access each other’s unique knowledge, expertise and capabilities on topics of mutual interest.

SSHRC Connection Grants

Deadlines:
Submission to ORS: July 17, 2019
Submission to agency: August 1, 2019

Value: $7000 to $25,000 for events, and up to $50,000 for other outreach activities; higher amounts for outreach activities may be considered if well justified

Duration: 1 year

These Grants support workshops, colloquiums, conferences, forums, summer institutes, or other events or outreach activities that facilitate knowledge exchange.

Fulbright Canada

Deadlines:
Submission to ORS: November 1, 2019
Submission to agency: November 15, 2019

The Canada-U.S. Fulbright Program operates on the principle of reciprocal exchange and provides the opportunity for outstanding Canadian scholars to lecture and/or conduct research in the United States. Award recipients include prominent and promising scholars, as well as experienced professionals.

Traditional Awards are field open and can be taken up at any university, think tank, or government agency in the United States. (US $12,500 for one semester [4 months].)

Research Chairs are targeted opportunities at select universities/institutions designed to host exceptional scholars and experienced professionals who conduct research in a specific area. (From US $25,000 to US $50,000 for four to nine months.)

NSERC Research Alliance Grants: Option 1

Value: Requesting $150,000 or more annually from NSERC

Duration: 1 – 5 years

NSERC’s Alliance Grants will be launched in a phased approach. On May 21st, Option 1 will be open for applications requesting $150,000 or more annually from NSERC.

Alliance grants support projects of varying scale and complexity, from short-term smaller projects involving one researcher to long-term projects involving researchers across several universities, and from one-on-one collaborations with one partner organization directly involved in the research to projects involving many partner organizations across multiple sectors.

NSERC Discovery: Notice of Intent to Apply (Mandatory)

The Office of Research Services (ORS) would like to remind researchers who are considering applying for a NSERC Discovery Grant (Deadline: November 1, 2019) to complete the Notification of Intent to Apply (Form 180) which is due at NSERC by August 1st, 2019 by 8:00 p.m. (ET).  Please note that Form 180 is mandatory.  Applicants who do not submit a NOI cannot submit a full application.  NSERC will not accept any NOI after the deadline.  In addition, Form 180s do not need to come through ORS but should be submitted directly to NSERC.

Researchers must submit the NOI and the NSERC version of the Canadian Common CV (CCV) using the Research Portal.  Refer to the instructions on how to complete the NOI and CCV. We encourage you to start completing your CCV early, as it can be time-consuming to populate the fields the first time.

Canadian Urban Transit Research & Innovation Consortium Collaborative Innovative Projects

The Canadian Urban Transit Research & Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC) is accepting Letters of Intent for its collaborative innovative projects.  Projects must have at least two industrial partners and two academic partners, and all partners are required to be a member of CUTRIC for the duration of the project.

Mitacs Elevate

Mitacs Elevate is a postdoctoral fellowship with a customized research management training component. Over the two-year fellowship, Elevate fellows divide their time between their partner organization project and university-based research with their faculty supervisor.

Mitacs Globalink Research Award

Value & Duration: The Mitacs Globalink Research Award provides $6,000 for senior undergraduate and graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in Canada to conduct 12–24-week research projects at universities overseas.

Mitacs is accepting applications for its competitive international research funding opportunity. The Mitacs Globalink Research Award funds collaborations between senior undergraduate and graduate students and faculty members at a university overseas. Accredited universities are located in the following Mitacs partner countries: Australia, Brazil, China, EU member countries (in France, both universities, Inria Research Centres are eligible as host institutions), India, Israel, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, United Kingdom, and United States.
