Get Ready for Summer Term!

If you’re taking courses this summer, or still plan to register, check Important Dates for Summer 2026. SU and S1 terms start May 4 and the last day to register is May 11. You can also view courses if you’re still exploring your options.

If you have questions about Summer Term enrolment, your academic plan, or available supports, we encourage you to connect with your LA&PS Academic Advisor before the term begins. You can also meet with an Academic Advisor to start planning your Fall–Winter 2026–2027 courses now that the schedule is available. Fall–Winter enrolment windows will be visible to students after April 29.

Tips for Summer Courses:

  1. Review prerequisites. If you’re already enrolled, double‑check the course descriptions to make sure you’ve completed all required prerequisites. You may be removed from a course if prerequisites aren’t met.

  2. Check your schedule. Make sure your class times don’t overlap or conflict.

  3. Watch for Course Credit Exclusions (CCEs). Some courses cover similar content, and you can only receive credit for one of them. For example, only one MODR (Modes of Reasoning) course can count toward your degree. You can find more definitions on York’s Useful Definitions webpage.

  4. Repeating a course this Summer Term? Review the Course Repeat policy

Whenever a course is full or restricted, you will need to contact the department offering the course to see what your options are (e.g., be added to a waitlist, ask for permission to enrol). The Course Contacts website provides department contact information. Please note that not all departments offer waitlists for full courses.

Explore Your Academic Options

Thinking about changing your program, adding a major or minor, or exploring something new? Start by reflecting on your interests, strengths and career goals. The Career Centre is a great place to explore how different academic paths connect to future opportunities.

To get started, visit the Update Your Program page and review steps 1-4. If you already know the change you want to make, check the timeline and requirements for your specific type of request (e.g., change of major, Faculty or degree). Some LA&PS programs have more specific timelines and processes.

If you’d like help reviewing requirements or talking through your options for the coming year or beyond, connect with your LA&PS Academic Advisor
