Call for Nominations

📣 Social Justice Award 

Applications are now open for the LA&PS Social Justice Award. This award recognizes a continuing undergraduate student in LA&PS who demonstrates a strong commitment to social justice advocacy. 

Eligible applicants must be enrolled part-time or full-time, have completed at least 15 credits, be registered in Public Administration, Politics, Global Political Studies or Law & Society and demonstrate financial need.  

💵 Award value: $1,000 

📅 Application deadline: Friday, April 17

📣 LA&PS Outstanding Student Volunteer Award 

Do you know someone – or are you someone – who has demonstrated outstanding volunteerism, service and leadership that strengthens the York community? Applications are now open.

💵 Award value: $250 - $1,000

📣 LA&PS Outstanding Student Leadership Award  

Do you know someone – or are you someone – who has made an exceptional contribution to a LA&PS undergraduate student association through leadership, commitment and innovation? Applications are now open. 

💵 Award value: $300 - $1,000

Nominate a professor or teaching assistant to recognize their outstanding achievements in research, influence on academic and social communities, and commitment to engaging students.

Meet Sarah Cheng, our new International Student Success & Engagement Coordinator! Sarah brings years of experience in the international education sector and is passionate about supporting students as they learn, grow and thrive. Outside the office, she’s a self‑proclaimed foodie who firmly believes pineapple belongs on pizza!

Can a smartphone become an archive of belonging? Join the Department of Anthropology for a talk by guest speaker Liz Hingley on The SIM Project, an international, multisensory research initiative that transforms smartphone data into collective stories of migration, memory and agency.

Reminders

Book Your Grad Portrait by May 16New Paramount Studios is still offering graduate portrait sessions on Keele Campus or in their studios.  A sitting fee of $30, in cash, is required at the time of your session.

Apply to Advancing YU by May 31: Join our mentorship program pairing LA&PS students who identify as women and/or Black with successful York alumni, and gain personalized career guidance, build skills and prepare for what’s next. The program also provides a stipend of up to $1,000.
