New Policy on Academic Consideration for Missed Course Work
Let’s face it – sometimes things happen that are beyond our control. As of September 2025, undergraduate students can self-report a short-term absence for temporary academic consideration. Learn more about how the new Policy on Academic Consideration for Missed Course Work can help.

Awards & Scholarships Await - Update Your FAAS Profile
Update your profile in the FAAS App to be matched with eligible awards, bursaries and scholarships that you might be missing! The Dean's Office Fall Awards are now open for applications. The fall deadline to update your profile is Oct. 15!

Share Your Input - Participate in a Student Research Survey
Currently enrolled York University undergraduate students are invited to participate in a research study designed to understand how recent labour disruptions have impacted your academic experience. Complete a short 2-minute eligibility survey and qualified participants will be invited for a follow-up survey and interview. Compensation will be provided to qualified participants.

Teamwork in Action: Thriving in Group Projects
Boost your teamwork skills in this hands-on workshop designed to help you thrive in group settings. You'll explore the stages of group development, learn practical conflict resolution strategies and strengthen collaboration through interactive simulations. Tackle real-world project scenarios and walk away with proven techniques to contribute confidently and effectively to any team.

Speak Up: Building Academic Discussion Skill

Bienvenue au French Café: Practice Speaking Conversational French
Would you like to practice your French or meet other French-speaking students in a casual and relaxed setting? Come hang out at The French Café where you can meet new people, practice your French-speaking skills and enjoy some snacks!
Hosted by the Department of French Studies and open to LA&PS students of all French-speaking levels, the French Café is a student-led social event that occurs twice per week in the department’s student lounge. Just stop by - no registration required. Please present your YU-card to participate.

The 2025 Vico Lecture: The Block by Block Project
Join us at the 2025 Vico Lecture, featuring Dr. Maggie Hutcheson, assistant professor at the University of Toronto and the lead curator and program director of the Toronto Ward Museum’s Block by Block Project.
During her lecture, Dr. Hutcheson will explore how the project preserved local memory in four evolving Toronto neighbourhoods and reflect on its co-creative approach and the relationships between critical memory work, placekeeping and urban futures.

The 2025 Alchemy Lecture: Sound–at the Interregnum
The Canada Research Chair in Black Studies in the Humanities, the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies and York University are proud to host the fourth annual Alchemy Lecture: Sound–at the Interregnum.
The 2025 lecture will be delivered by four renowned alchemists: Glen Coulthard, professor, writer and co-founder of Dechinta Centre for Research and Learning; Madeleine Thien, professor, writer and librettist; Canisia Lubrin, professor, poet, novelist and editor; and Immanuel Wilkins, saxophonist, composer and arranger.
