In this edition of The Scoop, we invite you to our upcoming Writer-in-Residence event and performances by Vanier College Productions. You can also expand your classroom experience by working on a real-world social impact project through C4, explore an internship or join the LA&PS International team to gain mentoring experience! Earn Course Credits to Make a Real Difference through C4
Looking for an innovative course to take this Summer? Check out C4 Sprint! Apply your knowledge to real-world issues through the Cross-Campus Capstone Classroom (C4).
Connect with students across York to spend a term (or a full year) working on a real-world, social impact project. Choose to work on challenges from non-profit organizations, cities, businesses, start-ups and more. See what C4 alumni have accomplished.
You’ll come out of the course with new interdisciplinary professional skills and a multifaceted approach to problem solving, as well as 3.0 course credit.
Join the LA&PS International Team as a Peer Mentor!
The International Team is looking for dedicated and passionate students to volunteer as Peer Mentors for the York First Friend program. This program is designed to build community and support the transition of newly admitted LA&PS international students.
Peer mentors will be responsible for leading a team of incoming international students through weekly challenges and online activities throughout the Summer term, as well as acting as a Peer Mentor. As a Peer Mentor, you will enhance your interpersonal communication, organizational and professional skills.

Don't Miss the Writer-in-Residence Event Featuring Claudia Dey!
The Department of English invites you to their Writer-in-Residence event featuring Claudia Dey and Emma Healey on April 11 at the Second Student Centre.
Following a brief introduction, Claudia Dey will read from her new book, Daughter, and then participate in an onstage conversation with Emma Healey about her work. Both Claudia and Emma will also be available for book signings after the event.
The Writer-in-Residence program is aimed at supplementing existing Creative Writing courses by providing students with access to a working, professional writer for feedback and support.

Watch Show Choir Perform the Hits
Vanier College Productions’ Show Choir perform a new set of arrangements and mashups of Broadway showtunes and Top 40 hits. The show is fully choreographed and features an opening performance by VCP’s brand-new Grad Choir.
Selections will include songs from Rent, Avenue Q, Tangled, Beauty and the Beast, Chicago, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Six, Wicked, The Prom, Pitch Perfect and songs made famous by The Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Pink Zebra, Micheal Jackson and Dua Lipa!
Tickets are Pay-What-You-Can-Afford and can be purchased online or at the door (cash only).

Join us for VIC’s final performance: Jokes On VIC
Join the Vanier Improv Company (VIC) to relieve some stress with a hilarious show. Tickets on sale for $5 (at the door, cash only) and VIC passes are available for $20. To reach the theatre, take the stairs or elevator on the east side of Vanier College up to the second floor.

Showcase Your Talent at LA&PS Got Talent
Vanier College Productions (VCP), in collaboration with Founders College, presents LA&PS Got Talent. The event is an opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy a showcase of our talented students.
Performances should be approximately three minutes in length and consist of ANYTHING you consider to be your talent – singing, juggling, stand-up comedy, poetry, impressions and more! Register now until Monday March 25 at 11:59 p.m.

Winter Term Course Drop Deadline Extended
Due to the labour disruption, the March 11 deadline for students to withdraw from an undergraduate Winter term course without receiving a grade or a “Withdrawn” (W) notification on their transcript has been extended to the last day of classes on April 8. Note that there is no adjustment of the deadline for Y (six-credit) courses for which the drop date fell before the disruption began on February 26.

Learn how to write an A+ assignment with the ESL Open Learning Centre with this helpful Study Meet session. Work with our International Student Success Ambassadors who can help you get started on your next assignment!
